In October 2023, the UNBC BEd Block 1s had gone to the Prince George Public Library to learn about how it can be used in the classroom (and some of the different features that can be used for personal use that some people may not know about).
During the presentation, the presenter (can’t remember her name but she had been lovely) had told us about many resources that the library has for teachers. May of these resources that are not necessarily books are directed at younger grades though.
Resources that the library has includes things such as talking books (which can read to children) and kits with different activities such as sewing kits, science experiments, and hiking gear.
One of the things that is really nice that the Prince George Public Library does is that you can request different materials that they may not have at the library. Sometimes they can be brought in from other libraries across the province or if the request is a book then they may buy it for library use.
Another thing that the library is able to set up are visits to the library for classes or they are able to go into schools and give presentations. During these visits children are able to see what the library has to offer and can often get a library card as they are free.
Most things at the library are also free, and the only things that really need to get paid for are lost books or if your are printing a lot of things (I believe the number is anything over 30 or if you are using colour).
One of the other things that is available though the library are ebooks. As long as you have a Prince George library card you are able to access anything that they have through 2 separate apps.
